Types of Membership
Voting: A person eligible for voting membership shall:
- be currently employed full time as a paralegal for in-house counsel
- verify employment by having a supervising attorney complete the Attorney Verification portion
of the Membership Application Form
- meet the following definition a paralegal and one of the following additional
requirements:
- Definition of Paralegal A paralegal is an individual who is qualified through
education, training, or work experience, and is employed, under the ultimate direction and
supervision of an attorney, to assist in-house counsel for a corporation/company, hospital,
or other entity in a capacity or function which involves the performance of specifically
delegated substantive legal work, which, for the most part, requires a sufficient knowledge
of legal concepts that, absent such assistance, the attorney would perform.
- Present valid proof of completion of a full course of studies for training as a paralegal
at a college, university, or other post-secondary school; or
- Have been employed as a paralegal (as defined in Section 2.1) for a minimum of 12
consecutive months, which employment shall be verified by affidavit executed by an attorney
on a form prescribed by the Board of Directors.
Associate: Same requirements as above, but not currently employed as a
paralegal for in-house counsel. An associate member may fully participate in the affairs of the
Association, except that they may not vote or serve as an Officer, Chairman, or Co-Chairman of a
Committee.
Vendor Sponsor: A Sponsor is any person or entity who has an interest
in the paralegal profession and who supports the purposes of the Metroplex Association of Corporate
Paralegals. An individual sponsor in good standing or one representative designated by any
entity may attend general membership meetings, seminars and other activities at fees charged to
Voting Members. Neither sponsors, nor their designees, shall have the right to vote, hold any
office, or serve as an officer/director, section coordinator, chairman or member of a committee.
Applying for Membership
We invite you to join our membership. To do so, you must complete an application form and pay
dues, currently $55 per year for voting members, and $75 for associate and vendor sponsors. Dues are
for January 1 - December 31 and are not prorated. View
